Coffee calculator
How much coffee per cup? Choose method, quantity and strength â you get grams, water, grind size, temperature and time. Your selection is stored in the link, so you can share it.
How the calculator works
Common rules of thumb from everyday coffee practice are the starting point, such as 60 grams per litre for filter and French press (around 1:16) and 1:2 for espresso. Water that stays in the coffee grounds is not deducted â slightly less than the amount of water ends up in the cup. With âMildâ and âStrongâ you shift the amount by about 10 and 15 percent respectively.
These values are a start, not gospel. Bean, roast, water and grinder change the result. Change one variable at a time and make a note of what tastes best to you.
Why weigh?
A spoonful varies a lot with the bean and roast level. A scale with a timer makes your cup repeatable â that is the single biggest step towards better coffee at home.
